BiografieRegie, Buch "Jan Gogola was born in 1971. He is a director, script editor and lecturer at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). Gogola studied journalism at Charles University and documentary film at FAMU. Formerly commissioning editor for Czech TV he has recently resumed filmmaking career as a director. As a script editor Gogola has been involved in the making of numerous documentaries, e.g., Czech Dream (dir. Filip Remunda, Vít Klusák); 66 Seasons (dir. Peter Kerekes); Cooking History (dir. Peter Kerekes); Lost Holiday (dir. Lucie Králová); Private Century (dir. Jan Šikl), and others. His film The Diary of Grandmother Nemcová was awarded the first prize at FAMU film festival, Prague in 2000. His latest film I Love My Boring Life was awarded as the Best Czech Documentary at Jihlava IDFF. Further on, Jan Gogola Jr. is author of a number of reviews, articles and essays, he published his text The Death of Documentary Film (Borders in Film, NFA 1999)." [dafilms.de]
